This is an override tuning mod, meaning everything it does will apply to all sims in game, not just the currently played sim.

The Animal Rescue Mod allows your Sim to become an animal rescuer. They do NOT have to join the custom career for this, its just for added game play and realism.

Updated For My First Pet Patch
Everything is now in one zip file, download AnimalRescueModCareerStats.package and place in mods folder. Be sure to remove old versions from the mod folder first.

Updated: Pet Stats on Sim Stat - Earn Aspiration Points!

MOD FEATURES

Putting a pet up for adoption will now grant Simoleans, based on their traits and training level. This is to allow for a way of gaining income with or without the custom animal rescuer career.

Pet Bowl Feeding including Auto Feeder is completely free. Rescuer sims have food donated to them!

All vet bills are half price and spaying is free.

Sims with the dog or cat lover trait that become sad after having a pet adopted, now receive a happy buff for successfully rehoming a rescued pet.

String edit to the pop up text when placing a pet up for adoption.

ANIMAL RESCUER CAREER FEATURES:

Your sim only has to leave for work once a week for an hour. They will do this autonomously as usual with a rabbithole career, but if for whatever reason they dont, make them attend work or you will not be paid. Depending on career level, your sim will gain simoleans on returning from work (reimbursed expenses for rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals! Performance gain has been increased to account for the one hour working week.

you are very welcome. Mod has been updated to include a new pet stats feature which tracks certain pet interactions and awards aspiration points each time the interactions are performed.

What do the days mean?
Also are the requirements only dog training skill or like a number of pets adopted or anything else?

you only work one day a week, for one hour. As the animal rescue career is about being at home, rescuing strays and training them. So for the first level of the career, monday is the only day you actually leave the lot and go to work, for an hour between 1pm and 2pm. Once you are promoted to level 2 of the career, this will change to only going to work for one hour on a tuesday.

The requirement is only the dog training skill, again as game play is mostly focused on rescuing animals and training them.

The Pet Stat update I added, allows you to earn aspiration points every time you adopt a pet, rehome a pet, train a bad behaviour and become companions with a pet.

Hello! I had a question-- how do you format/write python scripts for custom careers? I know how to change them to ts4script, but I haven't figured out what I'm supposed to add to the script. I bought and read a book on Python, but there's not really a section on Sims 4 modding. Thanks!

How have you made your career? I have only made careers with Neia's beta tool, which exports a py script with the xml files.

Hi, I love this mod! I do have a quick question though. How does my sim collect the expenses each week? I can't seem to find that.

Hey, if you click on your career panel, you will see that only one day of work is highlighted. On that day, your sim will leave for work at 1pm and return at 2pm with the expenses (wage) 😊 it is like any other career in that when it’s time to go, the sim will autonomously leave and disappear, then return after the hour is up.

I'm curious how the adopting out animals function works, is the amount you get for the pet random or based on something? I spent only a little time training one dog who I'd cured of an illness and spayed and got $450 for it, and I figured that the amount I made from the animal would go up with more training. So, I fully trained the next dog, and the amount I got for adopting it out went down to $350. Can you elaborate on how your pricing works?

The payment on placing a pet up for adoption works by using the exact same code that is applied by default when you actually sell a pet. The value of the pet increases or decreases depending on the amount of negative or positive traits it has. For example an aggressive animal will sell for less than a friendly animal. Training unfortunately has no bearing on the amount the pet sells for as it’s not built in game and would require scripting which is beyond my abilities. This is why I have training a pet add aspiration points so at least there is a reason to do so 👍🏻

I’m glad you’ve found it, wasn’t sure you had logged in recently! Not exactly what you asked for but the best I can do with what little modding I know 😊 it was a great idea, well done.

This is such an awesome idea! I'm curious though, wouldn't the pets we spent so much time training and then put up for adoption just disappear? I did a test of this when Cats and Dogs first came out and none of the pets one of my sims put for adoption were listed for another sim to adopt. Is most of the wage based on adopting them out or the weekly stipend? Because if I can't adopt the pets out to my other households or give them to unplayed sims so that I see them again after all that work I'd rather not put them for adoption at all. Maybe I'll just cheat my sim the money instead.

Yea, i was gone for a bit, my pc cpu died shortly after i posted on the forums. I ended up getting a new pc since mine was just too old anyway just a couple weeks ago, and im going to be honest, i had completely forgotten about my forum post. But i had my new pc, and i installed the sims 4 and even got me my first pet stuff so i was looking through some mods and i came across yours and loved it! Ive been playing it a lot and it just what i wanted! Cant thank you enough for taking the time to make it into a mod. Really appreciate it!
